The Margibi detachment of the Liberia National Police is investigating the mysterious death of a 23-year-old man identified as Cyrus Williams.
Cyrus, an eleven-grade student of the St. Augustine Episcopal Mission School in Kakata was reportedly killed during the morning hours of Saturday, June 2, 2018, by a man believed to be 27 years-old whose name is yet to be disclosed.
The father of Cyrus Williams, Emmanuel T. Kolenky speaking to newsmen in a sad tone said while he (Emmanuel T. Kolenky) was on his way to work early Saturday morning, the Aunt of the deceased sent her older son to inform him that his son who was at a talent show on the St. Augustine Episcopal Mission School Campus as of Friday night was killed.
Mr. Kolenky disclosed that he doubted the information but he and two other persons immediately rushed to the scene by means of motorbike and upon arrival; he found the lifeless body of his son on the scene where he was killed.
According to Mr. Kolenky, a boy believes to be between the ages of 12 and 13 informed him that while they were on the asphalt argument broke out between Cyrus and the perpetrator who then insulted Cyrus’ mother and Cyrus in return said ‘don’t insult my mother, if you insult my mother tonight you will kill me’.
Mr. Kolenky said the little boy explained that the perpetrator repeated his statement and Cyrus in anger started walking behind the doer and fighting broke out between the both of them and the unidentified killer stabbed Cyrus to death.
Cyrus’ father said the boy also informed him that after his son was killed another person started running behind him (the little boy) saying ‘ehhhh I killed your brother I coming to kill you too’ but he ran and called other people and the perpetrator escaped.
When asked if Cyrus used to drink or go out at night, Mr. Kolenky in his respond said,
“yes, yes, yes you know the pleasure is too much in Liberia so people go out to have fine time especially that kind of big day but he was not intoxicated according to the little boy that was with him”.
Meanwhile, this Paper has reliably learned that two persons are being arrested in connection with the death of Cyrus Williams and are currently being held at the Liberia National Police Headquarters in Monrovia.
