N.V. Massaquoi Maintains High School Championship Title in Bong County

The N. V. Massaquoi High School Tuesday retained the championship crown in the Bong County qualifier of this year’s National High School Championship competition.

The N.V. Massaquoi High School defeated the St. Martin’s High School 2-0 in the final to retain the title they won in the maiden edition.
A goal each in the 36th and 70th minutes of the match saw the N.V. Massaquoi clinched the crown.

The result means N.V. Massaquoi High School will represent Bong County as Champions of Region II in the final stage of this year’s National High School Championship Competition.

The N.V. Massaquoi High School will join the other high schools Champions from Nimba, Margibi and Grand Bassa Counties for the next round which comes on next month.

As for the highest goal scorer award, players Emmanuel Potee of Gboveh High School and Solomon Sumo of N.V. Massaquoi are tied on four (4) goals.

Meanwhile, the Grand Bassa High School Championship commences on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the Doris Williams Sports Grounds in Buchanan, featuring eight high schools.

All games are organized by National High School Sports, an organization that uses sports as a platform to motivate young people to enroll in high school.

The organization harnesses sports and education in support of youth development, boosting school enrollment and helping to reduce youth illiteracy in Liberia.

Prizes for the 2018 national high school football and kickball champions include a large trophy, medals, and cash.

An international travel opportunity for the national football champions to play friendly international high school games in Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone or Ivory Coast.

The Most Valuable Player of the 2018 National High School Football and Kickball Championship will receive a cash prize and one-year scholarship while the Highest Goal Scorer will receive the only cash prize.
