Senate Passes HUMMINGBIRD Resources Concession Agreement; Wants Lower House To Concur
The Liberian Senate has finally passed the act to ratify the mineral development agreement between the government of Liberia and HUMMINGBIRD Resources (Liberia) Inc. for the mining of minerals in four of Liberia’s southeastern counties. The counties include Grand Gedeh, Rivergee, Sinoe Grand Kru Counties Respectively.
According to a communication issue to the speaker of the House of Representatives, the Senate informed that body of the bill’s passage thus seeking a timely concurrence with the lower house.
The Senate unanimously passed the mineral development agreement Monday, June 11, 2018, at 12:45GMT during a special sitting of that body.
The agreement which has been in the senate’s corridor for a year seeks to employ the locals and develop those counties of operation as captioned in the social responsibilities of the agreement.
On Motion, the bill was taken from the committee room for its second reading, on motion, under the suspension of the rule, the second reading of the bill constituted its third and final reading, in which the bill was adopted, passed into the full force of the law and ordered engrossed on Monday, June 12, 2018.
