Rep. Ivar Jones Donates 2.65Million LD For District Development In District#2 Margibi County

Margibi-County: In fulfillment of his promises made during the 2017 General and Presidential Elections, Rep, Ivar Jones has presented a check of two million six hundred and fifty thousand Liberian dollars for catering to developments in his District.

The check presentation was made in two folds, with Four Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Liberian dollars (475,000LD) and Fifteen Thousand United States Dollars (15,000USD) checks respectively.

The Margibi County District #2 Lawmaker said the initiative is intended to improve the livelihood of citizens in his District, indicating in a former U.S President John F. Kennedy famous quote “Ask not what your Country can do for you-ask what you can do for your country”, pledging his undaunted support to development of the district through giving back to his people.

Relatively, Rep. Jones also presented a copy of Land Deed to the District Development Council, stating that the purchase of the land which costs four thousand United States dollars is intended for the construction of a district office in Barclay Farm, Margibi County. The District Development Council is the highest decision making body of every district in each county in Liberia.

He made the presentation of the checks and land deed Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the cotton tree town hall.

Rep. Jones encouraged residents of his District to join in fulfilling his developmental agenda noting that the period of elections are over and the need to deliver through participatory governance is cardinal.

Speaking after the donations, the Chairman of the District Development Council Rev. Joseph Charlie lauded the Lawmaker’s effort in fulfilling his promises and pledged the Council’s support to ensure that all development funds will be utilized for the intended purpose.

Meanwhile, Rep. Jones has requested the District Development Council to launch an investigation that would validate all development projects that were supported through the County Development Funds during the administration of his predecessor former Lawmaker Zayzay Ballah.

Every Budget year, funds are allocated to each District for developmental purposes which are covered under the County Development funds and the Legislative Support Project.

Margibi District #2 Lawmaker stated that such investigation will help citizens of the District understand the status of all development projects that were sponsored by National Government under the CDF.
