At least five persons have been killed and 11 others wounded in a motor accident which occurred along the Gbarnga-Monrovia Highway.
The tragic incident happened on Monday between Suakoko and Barclay Farm, according to our Bong County Correspondent.
The accident which occurred at about 8: 00 PM involves two private vehicles including a commercial taxi and a bus.
The commercial taxi was leaving from Gbarnga to Monrovia with four passengers on board. The passengers including the driver of the taxi were killed. The bus was leaving from Monrovia to Gbarnga with 12 passengers on board. One of the twelve passengers on the bus died as a result of the accident.
The two vehicles which were moving from opposite directions collided, according to eyewitnesses.
Speaking in a telephone interview with the Monrovia Times, Bong County Traffic Commander, Augustine Kanneh said Medical Doctors at the Phebe Hospital pronounced three females and two males dead upon arrival at the hospital which is located in Suakoko District, Bong County.
Inspector Kanneh further disclosed that about eleven of the motor accident victims are currently admitted at the Phebe Hospital for treatment.
He noted that based on reports gathered from eyewitnesses, the accident occurred as a result of over speeding, adding that, the exact cause of the incident is yet to be established by the Liberia National Police Bong County Traffic Division.
Meanwhile, Inspector Kanneh has cautioned drivers to desist from over speeding in order to minimize the increasing rate of motor accidents in the Country.
