President Weah To Dedicate Two Annexes At Capitol Building
The government of Liberia has released a calendar of events for Liberia’s 171st Independence Anniversary celebrations.
According to Jarvis Witherspoon, activities making the official celebrations of the country’s Independence anniversary will begin on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Unifying The Nation For Progressive Development.”
Ambassador Witherspoon noted that as part of the festivities, President George Weah is expected to dedicate projects in Montserrado County, including the dedication of the two Capitol Building annexes.
The annexes which construction work begins during the administration of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was built by a Chinese Construction Company called CICO.
Witherspoon added that President Weah is expected to also launch the new postal strap for the ministry of Post and Telecommunications.
“We are pleased to announce to the people of Liberia that activities leading to the first independence day celebration under the Weah-Taylor administration is well on course.” He stressed
He told the Ministry of Information regular press briefing Thursday that the country’s Finance Minister will serve as this year’s Independence Day orator.
The vetting committee following it evaluation sees the Finance Minister as the right choice to deliver the Independence Day oration.
At the same time, Liberia’s Culture Ambassador, Julie Endee has said this year’s Independence Day celebration will kick off with a Golden Image Award and Dinner.
Ambassador Endee who is also expected to do a song for his Excellency President George Weah emphasized that her music for the President is inspiring.
She said international guests from Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Europe and the United States are expected to grace the occasion.
