President Weah To Address The Nation
Liberia’s President George Manneh Weah will tomorrow July 16,2018 address the nation on key issues affecting the economy and everyday lives of the Liberian people. The president is expected to address the current economic turmoil in the country and the hikes in the US to Liberian dollar exchange rate.
Liberia has been experiencing a rapid increase in the exchange rate between the United States dollar and Liberian dollar, something that has led to the increase in prices of basic commodities across the country.
President Weah is expected to inform the citizenry about the status of the economy as well as provide insight into his government plans to tackle the economic turmoil Liberians are currently facing
Earlier this week during the official launch of the Coastal Defense Project on Friday, July 13, 2018 aimed at preventing sea erosion in the Borough of New Kru Town, President Weah assured the people of Liberia that he will not let them down, and referenced the ongoing Coastal Defense project as just one of the many projects serving as precursor to the good news that will soon be revealed in the country.
No matter the amount of criticisms by critics, President Weah made it clear that his government would remain focused on delivering on commitments made to Liberians and stressed:
“Our life is not to boost, but as a government, our responsibility is to perform, give to you what you need and not to give you those things that you do not need.”
Liberians at home and in the diaspora are eagerly anticipating the President’s address with high hope that he will provide a means to an end to the economic crisis.
