Surprise Whea And Co Inducted To Lead LKF

The new leadership of the Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) was inducted at the weekend at the Samuel Kenyon Doe Sports Complex.

Emmanuel Surprise Whea was inducted as President, taking over from J. Yourvor Kollie who managed the Sport for eight years.
Solomon Ward was inducted as Vice President for Administration taking over from Madam Amie Wesseh, while Evan Somah was retained as Vice President for Operations.

Also retained is Milton Padmore as Secretary-General, while Abu Fofana took over as Assistant Secretary-General from Surprise Whea who won as President.
Madam Janneh was inducted as Treasure, replacing Alex Karsor.

Turning over the gavel of authority, outgoing president J. Yourvor Kollie expressed gratitude to Kickball stakeholders and followers of the sport for the support given him during his eight years reign.

He told the new leadership team he is willing to work with them in moving the game forward.

The Keynote speaker, Grand Bassa County Senator Nyongblee Karnga Lawrence who was represented at the occasion by Liberty Party Secretary General Jacob Smith urged the LKF new leadership to lead by example.

The Keynote speaker further urged the Leadership to do all in its power to propel kickball to a new height that will make it more attractive to the Public especially so that the sport is predominately played by female.

Acting Youth and Sports Minister, G. Andy Quamie also urged the Leadership to work with past leaders in moving the game forward.
Min. Quamie commended individuals sponsoring clubs in the country, as he said sponsoring sports teams in Liberia is a huge challenge.

“Those who are paying attention to sports in Liberia are making the extreme sacrifice,” said Min. Quamie.

Min. Quamie also called on the leadership to exhibit the best of transparency as doing so will help the growth of the leadership.
The occasion was graced by Montserrado County Senatorial Candidate, Josephine Francis who also served as inducting officer.

Madam Francis a one-time kickballer paid tribute to stakeholders of kickball and pledged to help in taking the game to another level.
The New LKF President speaking following his induction said he will launch a website for the promotion of the game in his first hundred days.

He added that attracting corporate sponsorship to the game is high on his agenda and will work in ensuring that a lot of progress is made in the first year of his leadership.

He said he will build partnerships with other institutions to create opportunities for the ladies playing kickball to obtain a technical and vocational education to help them maintain themselves after retiring from the game.
The founding President of Kickball, Lemuel Sherman graced the occasion along with the President of the Sinkor Old Timers Sports Association. They both pledged support to the game.

Montserrado County District 6 Representative Samuel Enders pledged more support to the game as he provided 15 scholarships to the LKF to get ladies interested in technical and vocational education.
