The Management of CEMENCO in consultation with the Ministry of Commerce has announced a new measure aim at providing affordable and quality cement to the people of Liberia.
Addressing a news conference in Monrovia on the weekend, CEMENCO General Manager William Gainard said the company is committed to providing cement to the ordinary people at a lower cost.
He added that the new measure is also intended to give Liberians in rural areas access to cement that will assist in giving them a concrete structure.
He mentioned that beginning “August” the Price of Cement produced by CEMENCO, will be sold for $6.85 instead of $8.50 its previous price.
He noted that CEMENCO will do everything possible to enhance the Pro-Poor agenda by providing CEMENT at a lower price for low-income earners in the country.
The Giant Liberian Base Cement Producer through its management also announced plans to build new cement depot in the rural counties in order minimize the difficulty faced by Liberian in accessing quality cement.
In brief remark, Commerce and Industry Minister Wilson Tarpeh stressed that businesses in the private sector should always provide a favorable environment for the poor while lauding CEMENCO for reducing the price of CEMENT on the Liberian market.
He said the private sector is a fulcrum of development that contributes to every developing nation around the world.
Minister Tarpeh who described CEMENCO as a shareholder to the pro-poor government also noted that the new measure to reduce the price of CEMENT is a fundamental achievement.
The Commerce Boss is at the same time urging the Public to always alert the Ministry about individuals who are in the constant habit of unilaterally increasing the price of basic commodities on the Liberian market.
