Internal Audit Agency of Liberia Debunks Rumor of Incompetency Against Director General
The Internal Audit Agency of Liberia says its attention has been drawn to recent unprovoked attacks on the reputation of its Director General, Emmanuel Nyeswa.
The IAA describes the attacks on Mr. Nyeswa as an attack on the integrity of the institution by those it termed as unscrupulous individuals fighting a proxy war, well sponsored by entrenched underachievers.
Contrary to widespread falsehood circulated on social media about Director General Nyeswa, the IAA says its new boss is an eminently qualified professional with vast experience, who was competitively recruited as a member of the Senior Executive Service under former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf with an assignment at the General Auditing Commission.
According to a release, the Internal Audit Agency categorically refutes assertions that Mr. Nyeswa’s appointment was in violation of the Act creating the IAA.
The IAA release states that Emmanuel Nyeswa’s appointment was in line with section 5.1 of the IAA Act which states that the Director-General and deputies shall be appointed by the President of Liberia with the consent of the Senate”, which was satisfied.
The release concludes that since his ascendency as Director General, Mr. Nyeswa has taken the IAA on the trajectory of transformation as evident by the provision of human resource development opportunities, digitalization of the agency, the development and adoption of operational accounting, procurement, HR manuals and a strategic plan that were non-existent prior to the appointment of Mr. Nyeswa as Director General.
