Two persons have completed the nomination and registration procedures to contest the LFA Presidential election selected for September 8.
The two according to the LFA Secretariat of the Liberia Football Association are former Liberia Football Association 1st Vice President Musa H. Shannon and LISCR FC President Mustapha I. Raji.
They two are been scrutinize by the Elections Committee to determine whether they have met all the requirements for the LFA Presidency after submitting nominations and registration documents.
The two, Shannon and Raji were candidates along with George Solo in the April 14 elections which suffered a Civil Law Court Injunction.
George Solo did not apply to contest in the September 8 election. It is not clear if the Nimba FC Vice President who petitioned the Civil Law Court to place a stay order on the elections in April still has interest in the LFA top job.
Solo took the LFA election committee to court claiming that he was not listened to by the committee after he complained that the electoral code has been violated.
The Civil Law Court lifted the injunction, ordering the LFA Elections Committee to give George Solo a due process in his case.
That due process was not given before the LFA change the statutes, amending articles that caused Solo to go to court.
George Solo is out of Liberia at the moment, but sources in his camp say he’s still interested in seeking the LFA presidency and will return to the court when he returns to Liberia.
Meanwhile, the LFA Elections Committee is due to announce individuals qualified to contest the election on September 8 by Friday after vetting the two applicants.
