President Weah To Honor Arsène Wenger
Former A.S. Monaco and Arsenal Coach Arsène Wenger, will Friday be given Liberia’s highest honor by the Chief Patron of Sports, President George Weah, a former player of the French man.
Arsène Wenger gave President Weah, the only African to have won the World Player of the Year, his first professional contract in Europe when he signed the Liberian in 1988 at Monaco in France.
Wenger is expected to be in Monrovia, for the award ceremony on Friday.
He will be inducted into the country’s Order of Distinction and be given the title of Knight Grand Commander of the Humane Order of African Redemption.
Also, Togo’s current national team coach Claude Le Roy will get a national honor on Friday.
He coached Cameroon in 1988 and recommended that Wenger sign George Weah, who was playing for Cameroonian side Tonnerre Yaoundé at the time.
