The Liberia Football Association 2018 League curtain raiser (the LFA Super Cup) took place Saturday at a wet Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in central Monrovia.
Double Champions LISCR FC defeated Srimex FC 3-0 to win the Super Cup in front of three hundred fans.
The first half of a “water controlled” match ended goalless despite chances created by both sides.
LISCR FC dominated but fine goalkeeping work denied them taking the lead in the first half.
LISCR FC who won the Championship and the LFA Cup last season was gifted by an injury to Srimex first choice keeper who was stretched off in the 40th minute.
The substitute keeper could not help his side as he leaked three goals in 19 minutes for the second half.
Fans were entertained with nice ball display in the second half when the rain subsided and the water rolled out of the pitch.
LISCR fielded several of their new signings including the former BYC striker Mark Paye who scored the first goal for the Champions.
Just before that match, Senior Pros defeated rival Earth Angels 4-3 in the women Super Cup match.
Several individuals were awarded for their respective outstanding performances in the last league season just before the games.
Clubs that won titles in the last league season were also handed those trophies at a brief ceremony at the VIP box of the ATS.
