Monrovia Club Breweries on Monday hammed their Bushrod Island Neighbors Small Town FC 2-1 at the start of the LFA Special League.
Club Breweries managed by one of Liberia’s best local tacticians Francis Sarplor took the lead in just two minutes when new boy Martic Mulbah strike in from a close range.
Small Town FC, who is in the first division for the first time, fought to find an equalizer, but the Breweries push on for further goals.
Club Breweries pressure dropped in the 39th minute when they had Emmanuel Nimely send off, thus reducing the Beer boys down to ten men.
Small Town FC leveled five minutes after that red card through Lawrence Paygar’s 20-yard strike, but Club Breweries came from the break with more ideas as they created couple of chances.
The Beer Boys found the winner finally after several attempts from the penalty spot with goalkeeper Sampson Giddings sending his opposing keeper the wrong way to give the Breweries a 2-1 lead in the 88th minute.
In the other fixture, Coach Cooper Sannor returned to top-flight football with LPRC Oilers as he guarded them to a 2-0 win over Bushrod Island rivals NPA Anchors.
Stanley Whitfield sends into his opponents’ net a Sekdiki Kromah pass in the 59th minute.
Dominic Jalateh rapped up the victory for Oilers in the 78th when he converted Stanley Whitfield connection.
The Liberia Football Association Special League will continue with more actions during the week.
