Liberia Senior Men’s Football team, the Lone Star will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an International Friendly Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the Samuel Keyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
The friendly between the two West African States will come on 48 hours after this weekend round of qualifiers in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Youth and Sports Ministry authorities, the International Friendly will form part of a ceremony commemorating the retirement of Soccer Legend George Weah’s famous # 14 Shirt worn on the Lone Star of Liberia.
That retiring ceremony is expected to be graced by several ex-soccer stars of Liberia including some of the famous names that donned the # 14 on the Lone Star before George Weah.
According to Youth and Sports Minister D. Zeogar Wilson, Nigeria will parade the squad the Super Eagles used at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but not including Victor Moses of Chelsea, Arsenal’s Iwobi and other key players that did not travel down to Africa for this weekend’s qualifier.
He said the Nigerian Football delegation will arrive in Liberia following their Nations Cup qualifying Friday’s match away to Seychelles.
Entry to the stadium for the game on next Tuesday will be free of charge according to Youth and Sports Minister Zeogar Wilson.
