The Liberia Marketing Association LMA and the Thomas’s family have signed 6 acres of land agreement to be used by marketers in Suakoko, Bong County.
In line with the agreement, the LMA will pay by installment little over one million four hundred and thirteen thousand Liberian Dollars (1, 413000).
Speaking at the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) the National Vice President of the Liberia Marketing Association, Abraham Barchue expressed gladness and stated that marketers of Suakoko will be relieved when it comes to the safe environment.
Mr. Barcue said Marketers of Suakoko have been finding it very difficult especially in selling their locally produce adding the six acres of land provided by the LMA through the Thomas’s family will help the Marketers.
According to him, the current location of the Suakoko Market is very dangerous on grounds that car drivers over speed on the Suakoko high-way and when the market remains at the place, accidents will continue to occur at the area.
“Our mothers and sisters usually sell right on the main road which is various dangerous because cars can be running on the road especially Friday ( Suakoko Market day) so we strongly believe that relocating the market will be good for them” Mr. Barchue said.
Mr. Barchue at the same time pledged the LMA commitment to living up to its promises by fully adhering to the MoU as signed by the two parties.
Also speaking, the President of the Liberia Marketing Association Alice Gorupu Yeebahn extended commendations to Superintendent Esther Walker for working with the LMA Bong chapter to ensure the signing of the MoU.
Madam Yeebahn also promised to work with the Superintendent of Bong County and local members of the Liberia Marketing Association.
For her part, Bong County Superintendent Madam Esther Yamah Walker thanked the LMA for providing land for the Suakoko Market Women and at the same time promised to work with them for the overall development of the LMA Bong branch.
