Coach Christopher Wreh, Keeper Doegblee And Two Others Suspended By LFA For Misconducts

The Liberia Football Association has placed a one-year suspension on two players of Nimba United and a six-month suspension on the Head Coach of the club for violating the rules and regulations governing the LFA 2018 National League.

According to the LFA, player Michael Fahnbulleh physically attacked and assaulted a player of LPRC Oilers after he was shown a red card for violent conduct doing the Nimba United versus LPRC Oilers league match played at the North Star Stadium in Mount Barclay on September 26, 2018.

Player Darlington Failey in the same match also attacked and used abusive language on the match Referee Christopher Nylander after he was shown a red card for violent conduct after immediately after the match.

Both players Fahnbulleh and Failey of Nimba United have been suspended with immediate effect for one year from all football activities.

Nimba United Head Coach Christopher Wreh, a former International for Liberia and Arsenal forward has also been suspended for six months for insulting match officials after he was given a marching order.

“These actions as exhibited by the coach and players of Nimba United are in violation of the LFA 2018 national League Rules and Regulations; Chapter 20,Article 24, section 1.5a and section 1.5”, the LFA said in a statement.

Section1.5 states any club official who shall insult/abuse or castigate a match official or LFA Official before, during and after a match shall be suspended for six(6)months for the first offence, one(1)year for the second offence and two(2)years for the third offence and banned from all LFA activities for any further offence.

At the same time, The Liberia Football Association has suspended Watanga FC goalkeeper Sam Doegbee for one year from all football activities.
Goalkeeper Doegbee is accused of attacking and assaulting Referee George Rogers on October 2, 2018 in front of the medical room at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

A Statement from the LFA, says during that fracas; Referee’s Rogers’ polar wrist watch supplied by FIFA to all international Referees got missing.

The cost of the polar watch and the referee medical bill is put at three hundred and twenty United States Dollars ($320.00).

Player Doegbee as part of his penalty for the misconduct is to pay all the expenses incurred by the referee.

The LFA said the action exhibited by player Doegbee is in violation of the LFA 2018 National League Rules and Regulations; Chapter 20, article 24, section 1.5a and section 1.8, the LFA release revealed.

Section1.5a states that any player or club official who shall assault a match official or LFA official before, during and after the match shall face the following penalties:

Section 1.8 states that misconduct towards a match official away from the field of play where misconduct can be traced to a match shall be dealt with as if it has been committed on the field of play.

The LFA action was a result of the referee report from the match played between Barrack Young Controllers and Watanga FC on October 2, 2018 at the ATS.
