Polio Campaign To Kick-Off In Four Counties – Runs From October 26 – 29, 2018

The Deputy Program Manager of Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), at the Ministry Health & Social Welfare, Sampson Wiah has disclosed that the Ministry is expected to commence the 2018 polio eradication campaign in four counties.

According to him, the campaign will runs from October 26 – 29, 2018 in four counties, namely: Montserrado, Nimba, Grand Gedeh and Lofa.

The Health Ministry official made the disclosure following a National Advocacy Meeting held at the ministry over the weekend.

He said the purpose for handpicking four out of the 15 counties is because the four counties dismally perform in the last polio vaccination campaign in terms of kids being immunized.

Polio is a crippling and potentially deadly infectious disease that is caused by the polio virus and spreads from person to person and can invade an infected person’s brain and spinal cord, causing paralysis.
