In Margibi, Police Arrest Notorious Criminal

Police in Margibi County have arrested a 27-year-old notorious and dangerous criminal who has allegedly been terrorizing peaceful citizens in the County.

A Police document in the possession of this Paper has it that suspect Amartu Marvey was arrested on Sunday, October 21, 2018 around the Zone Five Police Sub-station in Paynesville.

The document indicated that Amartu has on several occasions been arrested by Police Officers on allegations of burglary among other.
It revealed that on March 1, 2015 the Amartu was accused by one Mr. Momo D. Singbeh of New Kakata Community of burglary and he was arrested, investigated, charged, forwarded to Court and subsequently sent to prison.

The report further narrated that in 2009 the accused was involved in a burglary on the accommodation of his former Chinese in-law who resided New York-BWI where he stole Laptop.

It added that in the same year (2009) Amartu Marvey again was arrested for burglarizing one of the offices at the Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute (KRTTI) and made away with several pieces of Laptops.

According to the document, on March 22, 2017 Amartu along with some of his criminal collaborators attacked one Mark Gono of Matiala Community using dangerous weapons and took away his cash (money) while en route to Monrovia to purchase goods.

The document said of recent Amartu was released from the Kakata Central Prison (Carter High) where he spent more than one year and barely a day after his release he burglarized the home of one Charles Bracewell in Bassa Community where he stole a generator and fuel, but said items were retrieved.

The Chief Superintendent of Police in Margibi County, Sylvester Hina is quoted in the document as saying Amartu Marvey is very dangerous to the extent that he raised deadly weapons against police officers who attempted arresting him.

In 2015, the document said Amartu attempted stabbing Officer Redeemer Toe in his stomach with a knife when the officer tried to arrest him. It explained that Amartu on the same occasion attempted to chop Officer Abraham S. Korto with a cutlass after the officer has gone to have him arrested.

Additionally, the report averred that the accused stabbed chief inspector Vayanga Konneh who is the Chief of Operations in his palm with a knife when he went to arrest him. In 2015, Amartu reportedly stabbed officer Michael B. Rogers with a knife and escaped the scene. Meanwhile, Amartu Marvey is currently under Police custody in the County.
