The House of Representatives of the 54th Legislature will on Sunday, October 28, 2018 conduct a one day retreat at a local hotel in Monrovia.
A statement from the House Leadership described the pending retreat as “very important” and is calling on all of its members to be a part of the gathering.
Though the purpose of the retreat is not inscribed within the statement that was issued to the public, critics have it that, such meeting is intended to iron-up the emerging acrimony among members of the House of Representatives.
Prior to the Legislature going for its annual break, House Speaker, Dr. Bhofal Chambers reportedly fall out of favor by some of his colleagues who were bent on removing him as head of that body.
Sinoe County Representative Nagbe Sloh and his Montserrado County counterpart Yekeh Kolubah were reportedly leaders championing the Speaker’s removal.
Howbeit, as the Legislature prepares to return for an extraordinary session next week, the Leadership of the House has decided to leave their bitter past behind and track a new course.
“By directive of the Leadership of the House of Representatives of the 54th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia, all members of the Honorable House are to attend a One-Day Legislative Retreat slated for Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Millennium Hotel on Tubman in Sinkor, Monrovia from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm,” a statement which was signed by the House Deputy Chief Clerk, J. Sayfur Geeplay declared.
“Because of the importance of the importance of this Legislative Retreat, it is expected that all honorable members will attend and be on time,” the statement added.
