Rep. Morris Donates 3.1M LD To Keep Students In College

Upon hearing the news that their fees were to be paid Monday morning, over hundred and forty students turned out on campus earlier awaiting Rep. Lawrence Morris’s arrival.

The Montserrado County District One Representative was greeted with huge cheers and political slogans by the students.

At a brief ceremony held to present the cash, Rep. Morris explained why he was giving the more than three million Liberian dollars to students he did not know personally.

The Montserrado County District One Representative Lawrence Morris presented 3.1 million Liberian Dollars cash to the Ceebee Barshell University College as part payment of tuition for more than one hundred forty students.

Rep. Morris said empowering the young people through education is the surest way of addressing challenges faced by them.
He said once the young people are trained and educated, the society will be free of several liabilities that could be created by an uneducated youthful population.

Rep. Morris said he will use his salary for the next four years to send young people to colleges and universities to gain skills that will make them successful in life.

The Montserrado County Lawmaker said though other projects are necessary, he thinks educating the youth will bring in the best of development to the society.

For his part, the CEO of the Barshell University College, Rep. Ceebee Barshell rained praises on Rep. Morris for the gesture, adding that Liberia’s forward march can only be achieved by the collaborations of both public and private citizens.

The beneficiaries commended Rep. Lawrence Morris for helping them enter college, as they had no means of doing so.
The Montserrado County Lawmaker said though constructing town halls, hand pumps and other facilities in the communities is not a bad idea, he thinks educating the youth will bring in the best of development to the society.
