House Invites Current & Former Government Officials In Missing Billion Saga
After hours of heated debate of the House of Representatives Plenary on its 2nd Day sitting of the extra-ordinary Session, it decided through a vote to invite stakeholders in the alleged missing billions Liberian banknote, describing same as a “national embarrassment.”
The decision to openly discuss the issue of the missing billions came in the wake of a communication written the August body by Montserrado County Distirct # 8 Representative, Hon. Moses Acarous Gray, calling on his colleagues to invite all stakeholders involved into the printing of LD$ 16 billion.
Following the heated debate in open session, the plenary overwhelmingly voted to invite former and current Finance Ministers, current and former Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) Governors, former and current Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) Directors, current and former Justice Ministers and Former House Speaker J. Emmanuel Nuquay to appear before the full plenary on Thursday, November 8, 2018.
On next Tuesday, the Financial Management Team will also appear before the House’s Public Account Committee (PAC) to provide information on the US$25 Million allegedly infused into the country’s economy as a result of the unprecedented exchange rate between the Liberian bank notes and United States bank notes.
The motion to have the following former and current government officials invited before the August Body was made by Montserrado County District # 5 Representative, Thomas P. Fallah.
