Grand Cape Mount County-based Club Bea Mountain Tuesday won the 2018 LFA Special 2nd Division title, beating off challenges from Nimba County-based division two boys, Nimba Kwado.
Bea Mountain defeated Nimba Kwado 4-2 in penalties after both teams had played 120 minutes without finding the back of the net.
Bea Mountain dominated the match with a fine display but failed to register a goal despite the changes created.
The match took place at the ATS and had to be played in two days after the game failed to conclude on Sunday because of poor visibility. Bea Mountain pocketed six hundred thousand Liberian dollars for clinching the title, while Nimba Kwado ate three hundred seventy-five thousand Liberian dollars for finishing second.
Despite finishing at the top of the second division, both teams will not be promoted this season according to the LFA.
Speaking to this paper after the win, Bea Mountain Coach Cletus Smith said: “the season was a learning curve and I’m happy for the win”.
In the women league final, Earth Angels defeated Senior Pros 3-1 to lift the women cup.
