Liberian Football Association double Champions Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) and Knockout defeated finalists LISCR FC have been drawn against Opponents from Guinea and Algeria in the CAF 2019 Competitions.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) held the draw for the preliminary rounds of the 2019 African Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively recently pairing the Liberian sides against sides from West and North Africa.
The draw paired Guinean Champions Horoya A.C against Liberian Champions Barrack Young Controllers in the first leg of the first round of the preliminaries in Conakry during the week of November 27 to 28, 2018.
The clubs are playing in the 23rd Edition of Total CAF Champions League.
The return leg in the preliminary rounds will come on between December 4 and 5, 2018 in Monrovia at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
BYC will play Horoya A.C. of Guinea on December 4, 2018 in the return leg at the ATS.
LISCR, the losing finalist in the Knockout will travel to U.S. Madinet bel Abbes of Algeria in the 1st leg preliminary round match in the16th Edition of Total CAF Confederation Cup in Monrovia.
The game will be played on the week of November 27 to 28, 2018 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
LISCR’s FC home match against U.S. Madinet bel Abbes of Algeria will be in Monrovia on December 5, 2018.
Horoya A.C. eliminated FC Fassell in the Caf Confederation Cup preliminaries in the 2013/14 competition.
Fassell had to play their home game at the time against Horoya in Mali, due to the Ebola situation in Liberia at the time.
Meanwhile, BYC head coach Robert Lartey says his biggest ambition for the CAF competition is to reach BYC to the group stage.
Coach Lartey has expressed optimism about his side’s participation in the Caf competition, saying
“I want to break LPRC Oilers’ record as the only Liberian side that has ever played in the CAF group stage”.
