BRYF And Partners Host Second Edition of 5K Run For Change And Fun Walk 2018 In Liberia

The Bill Rogers Youth Foundation (BRYF) and partners are expected to host the 2nd edition of the “5K Run for Change and Fun Walk” race in Monrovia soon.

The 2-days event, the Run/Walk will be held on November 29, 2018 followed by an Awards/Dinner on November 30, 2018 in Monrovia under the theme “Building Liberian Youth Future Together”.

According to a press release from the Foundation, the Organization in partnership with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Liberia National Olympic Committee, and the Liberia Athletic Federation will host the event with support from other partners including the Liberia Broadcasting System, Africa Investors Group Foundation, Youth for Change and Youth Network for Reform, All Pro Consulting Services, ECOWAS Radio and Roots Holdings Inc, among others.

This inspiring 5K Run for Change according to the release is meant to empower Liberian Youth through the Bill Rogers Youth Foundation Sports for Change programs hence increasing participation in athletic activities.

The release is quoted as saying the run/walk will commence from JFK Hospital and ends at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium. It indicates that Awards/prizes (certificates, medal and trophies) will be provided to winners in three categories of participants which includes Youth and active runners, Elderly and people with disabilities, and a special award for Women and girls.

The key reason for this 5K Run the release said is to expose the athletic talents of Young Liberians.

“To achieve this, the project team is seeking partnerships or sponsorships from companies, Youth Organizations, Non Profit Organizations, private and public sector organizations” it explained.

Meanwhile, the release reveals that Registration forms are available at various locations including gas stations, media institutions, high schools and universities.

It added that the 2018 Run/Walk session will be facilitated by the technical teams of the Liberia Athletic Federation and the Liberia National Olympic Committee of the Ministry of Youth & Sports of the Republic of Liberia along with Bill Rogers, the lead organizer of the project who is a highly experienced international track athlete.

The press release states that on day two of the program which is November 30, 2018, the event will be climax at the Millennium Guest House in Congo town, Monrovia with an empowering dinner and awards ceremony to present winners with cash prizes, medals, trophies, certificates and a message of Hope to the young people of Liberia.

“Moreover, the organizers will recognize and appreciate all stakeholders, partners, and sponsors in the public and private sectors for their support and network to discuss future events,” it says.

The document narrated that the evening session of the event will bring together some of Liberia’s talents from the business/entrepreneur community, music, movies, and sports among others while refreshments will be served followed by motivational speeches by sponsors/partners.

Bill Rogers Youth Foundation (BRYF) is a nonprofit organization on a mission to help Liberian youth and children discover and develop their natural athletic talents so that they can positively impact their communities.

BRYF’s goal is to develop at-risk youth into strong adult leaders so they become role models and mentors. Bill Rogers, (Liberia’s renowned middle-distance runner) vision is to use sports to break down the cycle of violence and build unity among Liberian youths and communities.
