The Leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) has set up a four-Man Ad-hoc Elections Committee to conduct elections within the association in accordance with the SWAL constitution.
A statement from SWAL says the committee members were selected by the Leadership of following series of consultations with other senior members and decision finalized at a Leadership Meeting on Friday, November 16, 2018.
The SWAL Four-Man Ad-hoc Elections Committee members are Ernest Mickey, Chairman, Hassan Kiawu, Co-Chairman, Vincent Yelegar, Secretary and Eddie Harmon, Member.
The four are longtime members of the local Sports Writing Body and have served on various committees.
According to SWAL, The committee is handed the responsibility of organizing and conducting free, fair and transparent elections that will see a smooth transition within the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL).
The SWAL statement said, “The committee is to hold an election within thirty days (30-days) as of the date of this communication in keeping with the SWAL constitution”.
The Elections will take place in Monrovia in December.
Meanwhile, there are reports that several individuals interested in contesting in the election have begun holding consultations with members of the association.
The committee members are expected to hold their first meeting this week and come out with guidelines.
