The 2018/19 national county Meet kicks off in three days’ time with matches taking place at four venues on the opening day.
Ahead of that, counties are wrapping up their preparations, but with some challenges for some of the counties.
A visit at some of the county training grounds in and around Monrovia Wednesday shows that the players are facing constraints as most of the training pitches visited were without or limited water for those training.
While many leaders of the counties are sitting back watching these, Montserrado County District Six Representative Rev. Samuel Enders who is a passionate sports enthusiast took off time to make his presence felt at the training grounds of the Kickball and football teams of the county.
Though Representative Enders is currently out of the country, he made sure that Montserrado teams did not experience the constraints as he made a donation of rice, mineral water and cash.
His office staff led by Joseph Miller first stopped by at the Alpha Field and presented ten thousand Liberian dollars, two bags of 50kg rice, and twelve sack of mineral water to the kickball team.
That was followed by another visit at the Blue Field in the PHP Community where the football team received like the kickball teams.
Speaking at the two venues, Joseph Miller said: “Representative Enders is pleased to identify himself with the teams ahead of the National County Sports Meet”.
He told the two teams that the District Six Lawmaker wants them to win both trophies in this year’s competition. According to him, the donation on Wednesday was Rep. Enders’ initial support to the teams.
He said the Lawmaker will further visit the teams’ camps when he returns to the country.
Responding to the donation, the coach of the football team Samuel Sumo said Rep. Enders was the first Lawmaker from the county to pay a visit at the teams’ training grounds.
He said the District Six Lawmaker in the last tournament also identified with them.
Coach Sumo praised the Lawmaker for the visit and said the teams were motivated by his concern expressed.
Montserrado kickball and football teams are in Group One and will begin their campaign Sunday against Gbarpolu County in Sanniquellie.
