Margibi County: A Community Radio Station in Kakata Margibi County Radio Margibi has honored several individuals and Institutions for their numerous contributions made to the entity over the years at an elaborate program recently.
The honorees include Margibi District #4 Representative Ben A. Fofana, prominent citizens Moses M. Tokpah, Nula L. Binda, Christine W. Kennedy, Jeremiah H. Yengbeh, FARBRA-LIBERIA INC. Operation Manager Mr. J. B. Whykies Mende, Mr. Dorbor Dennis, Mr. Frederick Kermue, Mr. Anthony M. Jallah, LoneStar Cell GSM, and the Booker T. Washington among others.
The Manager of Radio Margibi, Mr. G. Sylvester Burgess praised the efforts of the honorees in supporting the growth and development of the Station over the years, thus making it as one of the best media entities in the Country.
Mr. Burgess particularly lauded Rep. Fofana forhis immeasurable contributions to the Station and other Community Radio Stations across Liberia. “When I (Burgess) was the business manager at Radio Kakata, it was Hon. Fofanawho single handed identified with the Station in making sure it was built and provided some electronic appliances such as electrical wires and light bulbs in which today the honorable has been able to spend more than thirty-six thousand United States dollars to have Radio Margibi operating in the County”.
According to him, the Lawmaker despite of his contributions made to the Station over the years, he had not interfere with the operations of the station or make inquiry on money raised by the management of the Institution thereby terming him as a true national leader.
The Community Radio Manager on the other hand said Moses M. Tokpah, Nula L. Binda, Christine W. Kennedy and Jeremiah H. Yengbehwho are staffs of the Institution were honored for the dedicated services they continue to render to the entity while Fabric Operation Manager Mr. J. B. Whykies Mende, Mr. Alison P. J. Smith and Mr. Anthony M. Jallah were honored for their contributions to the Station.
He disclosed that the Booker T. Washington Institute was honored as the best partner of the year while LoneStar Cell GSM was honored as the best partner of Community Radios evidence of the 24hrs electricity the LoneStar GSM family is providing for the Station.
Mr. Burgess also indicated that Mr. DorborDennis and Mr. Frederick Kermue were honored for their sponsorship to the Station’s famous talk-show “Day Break Margibi” hosted by Moses M. Tokpah, Nula L. Binda from Monday to Friday.
Mr Burgess Background the station’s establishment as the dream of young group of media professionals of Margibi under the banner “Concern Media Practitioners Of Margibi County” with the capacity and willingness to contribute positively to their Community through the dissemination of credible information, thought to form the station with the help of Rep. Fofana.
He said since the establishment of Radio Margibi, its management has been able to maintain the status of the station as the most listen to media platform in the County owing the citizens driven programs.
Mr. Burgess named some of the programs as “Day Break Margibi, What’s in the Papers, Mid Day Liberia, The Burg-Scott Show, From the Counties, Knowledge is Power, and Today’s Woman” respectively.
He boasted of his committed and professional employees with 13 contributors across the Country reporting on issues emanating from their respective Counties.
He challenged members of the Board of Advisory to begin engaging the year 2019 with verger, great enthusiasm and preparedness to contribute to society by collaborating with the management in engaging other institutions and organizations for partnership for the progress and survivability of the entity.
For his part, Hon. Ben A. Fofana has thanked the Radio Margibi family for recognizing his effort and the contributions made and at the same time promised maintain his non-interference posture to ensure quality broadcast.
Hon. Fofana also disclosed plans of working with the management team of the Station and the Advisory Board to secure a parcel of land for the station. He further narrated that there are plans underway for the establishment of a Television Station in the County.
The Margibi Lawmaker however, praised the management and staff of Radio Margibi for creating a level plain field for the voice of everyone to be heard especially during the 2017 general and presidential elections and at the same time thanked them for maintaining the peace and stability of the Country through their professional work.
