Barely days following the news of the shortage of fuel at the Charles Henry Rennie Hospital (C.H. Rennie) in Kakata Margibi County that led to its administration reducing the hours of power supply from 24hrs to 12hrs, the offices of Hon. Ben A. Fofana has come to the rescue of the facility.
Hon. Fofana, a representative of Margibi electoral district #4 over the weekend presented a hundred gallons of fuel worth fifty-eight thousand Liberian dollars to the Administrator of the Hospital, Mulbah Saywala in Montserrado.
The political consultant to Hon. Fofana, Dr. John S. Smith presenting the fuel to Mr. Saywala said the donation was in response to communication the Lawmaker received from the Hospital’s authority that the facility has gone low on fuel.
“And as Chair of the Caucus, he has to distribute the letter amongst members of the Caucus asking them to make their contribution while the County inclusive of his office can gear towards finding a permanent solution for the fuel shortage that we are currently experiencing” he pointed out.
Mr. Smith said in that direction, while they are still working on things doing necessary call in ensuring that the Ministry of Finance can intervene, the Lawmaker instructed them (office staffs) to present the fuel to the Administrator for the purpose as it was mentioned to be used by the Hospital.
He narrated that the Hospital can be using the one hundred gallons in the meantime while the rest of the Caucus members will do their personal contributions like he did as they expect a permanent solution in the next two weeks to come because Hon. Fofana is working along with people from the Ministry of Finance and other people in government to see how if not permanent, a solution can be found to the problem.
John S. Smith thanked Mr. Saywala for the Administrative procedure he has instituted at the Hospital by addressing the hours but said he thinks that this is a Hospital and it needs to run fully something he said policymakers are aware of such that their people need to be taken care of.
He called on others to join in order for the fuel that was presented to be added for the next two weeks pending receipt of the allotment from the Ministry of Finance.
For his part, the Administrator of the Hospital extended profound gratitude to the offices of Hon. Fofana for the gesture. Mr. Saywala narrated that he was not surprised about the gesture on grounds that Hon. Fofana is one of the Lawmakers that is always there for his people.
“So we want to say thank you for the hundred gallons of fuel that we received and we hope and pray that God will touch the heart of other Lawmakers that they will come and do a similar thing and other citizens of Margibi will come and do a similar thing so that we can keep running the Hospital.
Mr. Saywala added that C.H. Rennie remains the only referral Hospital in the County, as such; it is everybody’s business thereby calling on all to put aside politics and their differences and support the facilities as it was done during the 2018/2019 National County Sports Meet.
This Paper last week reported on the shortage of fuel and drugs thus impeding the operation of the facility.
