Rep. Fofana Restores Fire Victims’ Hope In Margibi-Donates Assorted Items Value At L$232,000
Margibi electoral district 4 Representative, Ben A. Fofana has restored the hope of those who were victimized by a recent fire outbreak in the County.
Rep. Fofana as part of his oversight responsibility over the weekend visited the fire victims and donated assorted items as his initial contribution to enable the affected families to rebuild their damaged homes.
It can be recalled that a Town in District #4 identified as Kcor Town was gutted by fire on the 13th of February 2019 after a 2-year-old child lighted a fire on a bamboo stake and attached it on a kitchen.
According to the information, the mother of the child left him under the kitchen where she was cooking for a group of guys who were digging a water well for the citizens on the order of Senator Oscar A. Cooper and went to attend to something else.
Meanwhile, the fire outbreak reportedly burned about nine houses along with nine rice kitchens thus making about ten family heads and 43 dependents homeless and foodless.
But Hon. Fofana in restoring the people’s home donated 20 bundles of zinc, 10 bags of 25kg rice and 20 boxes of zinc nail to enable them to rebuild their homes and have food on their tables. The value of the donated items is put at two hundred and thirty-two thousand Liberian dollars (L$232,000).
The Lawmaker in his words said the gesture was intended for his office to sympathy with his people who got affected as the result of the fire disaster and also to identify with them in order to alleviate some of the problems they are faced with already such as the reconstruction of their homes.
According to him, as a leader, he is experiencing whatever his citizens are experiencing indicating, ‘when your people are trouble you are trouble when they are in happiness you are in happiness’.
Rep. Fofana who termed the situation as sadden said he will not be able to restore all of what the fire victims lost including their properties, but he will show to them that he is their leader and if they are affected by fire disaster he has to make a contribution.
He promised to take the issue to the County leadership to see what intervention they can make in term of getting assistance so as to continue making the intervention.
Hon. Fofana used the occasion to thank the leadership of the community for keeping peace among the citizens amidst the lack of security presence in the area and the little or nothing they earn.
Receiving the items, local leaders of the area have lauded the District Representative for reaching out to them and making a considerable contribution.
