YOPTI Launches Capacity Building Training Program For Youth In Bong

In an effort to support the Government of Liberia Pro-Poor Agenda through capacity building and contribution to underprivileged Liberian including women and youth, a charity group under the canopy, Youth Positive Transformation Initiative (YOPTI) has launched a capacity building training program for youth advancement in Gbarnga, Bong County.

YOPTI was established in the late 2013 and since its establishment, has initiated and implemented five core program including two projects, four partnerships projects and other community services in the county.

Speaking in an interview with The Monrovia Times after the launched, the chief executive Director for the Youth Positive Transformation initiative, Genesis Sylvester Kolliemene said the program is intended to help build the capacity of young people in the county.

“YOPTI believes that young people have the greatest potential to make whatever positive change in whatever condition or location. Because of our strong conviction in positive transformation, we believe that every young person should have access to educational opportunities as a right in Liberia,” Mr. Kolliemene stressed.

According to him, the program has three different components including Computer, Personal Development and Professional Writing.

Mr. Kolliemene further revealed that they as a youth organization in Bong County they have received ten computers form one of their partners ‘Digital Bridge’ an American basic charity organization.

He said in the course of the computer training, students are going to learn about the usages of the internet, power point presentation and Microsoft word, while at personal development, students are going to learn about goal setting and character building, while at the professional writing students will learn how to write college application, easy writing among others.

Mr. Kolliemene believes that when the young people are capacitated in these training they will help in the rebuilding process of the country.

The YOPTI boss said the training will last for one Month with the fee of one thousand five hundred Liberian Dollars, adding that the 1,500 LD will be used for registration and printing of certificates among others.

He, at the same time, used the occasion to call on Liberian youth to take responsibility for their own development.

He further said the development of Liberia can only be done when the young people are capacitated and ready to contribute to the development of the country.

The charity organization boss further believes that the positive change of Liberia is a process that requires everyone, most especially young people of the country.
