The Representative electoral district #4 in Margibi County and Chairman of the County Caucus, Ben A. Fofana has provided one hundred and fifty thousand Liberian dollars (L$150,000) and one thousand five hundred United States dollars (US$1,500) to a local disaster management community and the I.J. Williams United Methodist Church in Kakata and Unification City respectively.
The office of Rep. Fofana on separate occasions presented one hundred thousand Liberian dollars to the specialized disaster committee identified as ‘Bank Creek Disaster Management Committee’ in Kakata ahead of the coming into force of the heavy downpour of rain.
The Lawmaker’s office also presented fifty thousand Liberian dollars along with one thousand five hundred United States dollars to the I.J. Williams United Methodist Church in Unification City respectively.
Mr. Jerry F Sumo, Administrative Assistant to Hon. Fofana making the cash donation to the local disaster management committee in Kakata on his behalf said the gesture is a response to a request made by the specialized disaster management committee on behalf of several affected communities.
According to him, the committee had earlier communicated with the offices of Hon. Fofana requesting for food and cash in order to galvanize manpower and empower them so as to be able to clean the various drainages.
He said the specialized committee presented a budget of seventy-one thousand two hundred Liberian dollars (L$71,200.00) and Hon. Fofana being a manager and humanitarian communicated with the chairpersons of the various Communities in line with the committee acknowledging receipt of their budget and at the same time promised to respond to their request in a timely manner.
“So he said that the office of the Honorable will be giving them hundred thousand dollars this morning, that hundred thousand is an initial contribution because we know that things are very expensive in our Country for now so to at least start your work; to buttress your hand mark we want to give you people hundred thousand” Mr. Sumo asserted.
He assured the specialized committee that the offices of Hon. Fofana remains open thereby calling on them to keep communicating with each other to make sure that residents of the various communities do not experience flood as it has been in time past.
In a related development, Jerry Sumo presented fifty thousand Liberian dollars along with one thousand five hundred United States dollars to the I.J. Williams United Methodist Church in Unification City in fulfillment of a promise the Margibi Lawmaker made to the Church.
Mr. Sumo presenting the cash to the Board Council Chairman of the Church said, Hon. Fofana during the Second Sunday of April 2019 pledged to contribute US$1000 towards the construction of a passionate project, US$500 towards window project and the provision of L$50,000 towards the purchasing of uniform for the church’s choir respectively.
Recipients of the cash in separate remarks thanked Hon. Fofana for the cash donation and promised to use it for the purpose intended.
