LFA Suspends Two More Referees for Poor Performance
The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has suspended center referee Abraham Zuah and Fifa-badged assistant referee Abraham Fahnbulleh for a month respectively from officiating league matches.
The suspensions followed a review of a second division match between Freeport FC and Heaven Eleven FC at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) on 23 April by the LFA referees committee.
During its investigation, the LFA referees committee overturned the red card it said was wrongly issued player Derrick R. Weah, who wore jersey #6 and reissued it to player Francis R. Sipley, who wore jersey #22 and actually committed the foul that warranted a red card and a two-match ban.
The committee also ruled that the correction should be made on the game sheet and submitted to the LFA in keeping with section 1.6 of the rules governing the 2019 national leagues.
Referee Abraham Zuah was found guilty of poor officiating while Fifa Assistant Referee Abraham Fahnbulleh was found guilty of misinforming the central on the issuance of the red card to the wrong player.
Meanwhile, the LFA says, Fifa-badged center referee Hassan Corneh is now free to resume all refereeing activities.
Referee Corneh was suspended on 22 March for a month for poor performance following a review of the second division match Freeport FC versus Muscat FC at the Nancy B. Doe Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County on 16 March.
