Forty-one PSU officers abandoned Regional Security Hub in Gbarnga
Development coming in from Gbarnga says some forty-one officers of the Police Support Unit representing the Liberia National Police (LNP) has deserted the hub owing to the lack of food and basic social services for their action.
The officers of LNP’s Police Support Unit have reportedly deserted their assignment at the Regional Justice and Security Hub in Gbarnga due to lack of food, electricity, and stipend.
Some of the PSU Officers told The Monrovia Times Correspondent that for several months, they have been residing at the Security Hub without food and electricity, adding, police authorities have also reneged in providing stipends for them.
The PSU Officers are assigned at the security hub in Gbarnga to respond to emergency cases that may arise from Bong, Nimba and Lofa Counties.
The Officers, many of whom have left, complained of sleeping in perpetual darkness, and at the same time finding it difficult to access safe drinking water in the area.
The forty-one PSU Officers further promised not to return to assignment until Government can provide their basic needs.
The Monrovia Times Correspondent in Gbarnga Bong County said the absence of the PSU Officers poses serious security threats to the living condition of citizens in Bong, Lofa and Nimba Counties.
