President George Weah has warned opposition candidates vying for legislative seats in the July 2, 2019 by-elections to back-off from the elections, saying Montserrado is the stronghold of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).
President Weah in a rather boastful tone said Montserrado County is the birthplace of the CDC, and the party will not allow any other political institution to take it away.
President Weah was speaking late Monday evening at the headquarters of the CDC, when the party unveiled its two candidates, Abu Kamara and Paulita Wie for the Montserrado County District 15 and Senatorial bye-elections.
He mentioned that the two Montserrado fallen lawmakers were loyal CDCians, as such, partisans of the CDC must not allow their efforts to go in vain.
President Weah at the same time descended on the Unity Party, saying the former governing U.P. must not compare itself to the Pro-poor government
