Information Minister Eugene Nagbe has clarified why Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor did not show up to receive the petition statement from the Council of Patriots on the day of the protest.
In the midst of the protest action, the government announced that Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor was designated by government to receive the document from the group planning the much publicized save the state protest.
Speaking during the weekend, Information Minister Nagbe stated that the Vice President’s absence from the gathering was due to her health condition, something which prompted the government to send a delegation of top government officials spearheaded by Foreign Minister Gbehzohngar Findley.
According to him, it was disappointing on the part of the COP not to present its petition statement to the delegation representing the government.
Commenting on the shutting down of social media sites by the government, the Information Minister added that the government’s decision was based on security reason.
