The Football team of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), known as the Oilers have won this year’s LFA First division title.

The Oilers defeated Keitrace FC 3-0 Sunday at the ATS to win their first league title in 14 years and their fourth overall title.

The Oilers last won the title in 2005, after previously winning it in 1995 and 1999. A Terry Sackor hat-trick gave the Oilers the three points they needed to lift the cup.

After missing close chances earlier in the first half, Terry Sackor dribbled the Keitrace FC defense and the goalkeeper to place the ball in an empty net to give the Oil boys a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute.
Back from recess, Terry Sackor missed two other opportunities before scoring a brace in the 75th and 79th minutes to complete his third hat-trick of the season.

That victory gave Oilers 50 points in 20 matches, meaning they stay at the top on seven points ahead of LISCR FC who defeat FC Fassell 1-0 in Buchanan.
Oilers won the league with 50 points with two matches before the close of the season. Oilers, who won the 2019 championship title without defeat, will represent Liberia at the next African Champions League.

The Oilers won 15 of their 20 matches and drew five scoring 46 goals and conceding 6.

Keitrace FC defeat means Mamie Kpoto’s side are relegated to the 2nd division.

In reaction to the title win, Oilers Coach Cooper Sannah attributed the success to hard work and commitment from both players and leadership team of the club.

Coach Sannah said winning his second major title in three years was a great achievement for him and his family. He said he would love to spend more years at the Oil Boys helping them to win more laurels.

In other results on Sunday, BYC came from 2-0 down to force Nimba FC to a 2-2 draw at the Ganta Stadium in Nimba County.

Monrovia Club Breweries defeated a spirited Small Town FC 2-1 in the early game at the ATS, while Jubilee FC was forced to a 1-1 draw by Nimba United at the North Star Stadium in Mount Barclay.
