Earth Angels Retain Double In LFA Women’s League
Earth Angels at the weekend won the Liberia Football Association women’s 2nd division championship.
They did so by beating title rivals Senior Professionals 2-0 on the final day of the season at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).
Angeline Kieh broke the deadlock in the 66th minute for Earth Angels.
It was Kieh’s 42nd league goal of the season and she will receive the Doxxbet-Liberia golden shoe plus L$100,000 at the LFA awards night on 23 August.
Second-half substitute Kebbeh Lamine sealed the win three minutes from time.
Both teams were tied on 37 points after 15 games with the Angels having won the first leg 3-1 at the ATS on 14 April.
The result means Earth Angels successfully defended their league and cup double and took home L$550,000, a giant-size trophy and medals.
They defeated Blanco FC in the knockout final weeks ago.
Blanco FC profited from Senior Pro’s defeat to finish as runners-up following an 11-0 demolition of Naskid in the first game.
Agatha Nimene earned a piece of history for herself by scoring a whopping 10 goals to condemn Naskid to their second 11-0 defeat, having lost to Earth Angels by the same scoreline at the ATS on 30 June.
Blanco pocketed L$315,000 and medals.
It also means Agatha scored 14 goals in two successive league games following a 4-0 victory over Professional Sisters at the George Weah technical center in Careysburg.
