The Monrovia City Corporation has received a huge consignment of solid waste of equipment from the European Union and other International partners
The pieces of equipment which include 8 large tipper trucks and 5 skip trucks is part of efforts to improve the sanitation and hygiene condition in the two cities.
The waste collection equipment comes in the wake of filthiness within Monrovia and its environs.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony Tuesday in Monrovia, the Head of Cooperation at the EU, Theo Kaspers encouraged the government of Liberia to add value to the equipment provided.
He said the waste management equipment is a step to reduce the rental cost for private equipment by both the Monrovia City Corporation and the Paynesville City Corporation.
For his part, the Mayor of Monrovia Jefferson Koijee thanked the EU for the equipment, while urging residents of the two cities to join the fight in making their environment clean and green.
According to him, politicizing the issue of waste management will not help address the problems in the city.
