The 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarnga, Bong County during the year 2019 disposed of 44 cases in the County.
Providing a brief synopsis of the Judiciary activities in the County over past twelve Months to the Press relevant to the prosecution of criminal cases, Bong County Attorney Jonathan Flomo said from the period of February to November 2019, they were able to dispose of 44 (forty-four) cases utilizing various disposition methods.
Attorney Flomo named full trial, confessed judgment, prosecution dismissal, and plea bargaining.
The Bong County Chief prosecutor said out of 44 cases there were 7 murder cases, 4 statutory rape cases, 2 armed robbery cases, 10 aggravated assault cases, 3 manslaughter cases, 1 Illegal trafficking in drugs amongst others.
Attorney Flomo revealed that out of this number, the prosecution lost three, adding over the same period, they were able to indict a total of 62 cases.
He said the criminal docket has increased from 45 in February 2019 to 63 as of November 2019.
“We want to use this special occasion to once again thank the American Government specifically the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for assisting us in the Sata Binda murder case, which was a landmark case for the Prosecutorial team of Bong County and Liberia at large” Attorney Flomo added.
Additionally, the Bong County Attorney said they will continue to do their best to serve the people of the County by being robust in prosecuting all criminal cases.
He used the medium to acknowledge all of their prosecutors including; City solicitors assigned in various magisterial courts around the county for working tirelessly in the pursuit of justice.
Atty. Jonathan Flomo also lauded judges, magistrates and public defenders for their unflinching support and corporation during the year under review.
